Our Mission

Lafayette Education Foundation promotes and supports excellence in education by:

• developing supportive relationships between the private sector and the Lafayette Parish public school system.
• providing private sector support to launch creative education initiatives.
• implementing strategies to stimulate optimism and inspiration among educators, parents and students.
• encouraging and facilitating lifelong learning initiatives.

Our History

Originally established as a fund and eventually evolving into a foundation, LEF was intentionally designed to be self-perpetuating.  Today, LEF has taken on a life of its own, having funded hundreds of grants that have touched thousands of children who have moved on into today's work force.  While our services have expanded, LEF has stayed focused and remained true to that original goal.

Our Impact

LEF has funded over $1 million in classroom grants since 1989, enhancing the learning experience for thousands of students. Through the annual Teacher Awards LEF has recognized 3,155 educators, awarding $242,000 to outstanding educators. LEF also provides funding for a variety of lifelong learning initiatives, connecting education to the real world.
