Since 1999, LEF has hosted its annual Teacher Awards, honoring outstanding K-12 educators in Lafayette Parish public, private and parochial schools. This Academy Award style event, complete with screaming fans and media interviews on the red carpet, provides public recognition for those who give tirelessly but generously to the children in our community - OUR TEACHERS! Beginning in 2015, PreK-4 educators are eligible for nomination for Teacher Awards. Click here to view the PreK-4 Eligibility Policy.
There are four categories in which Finalists are chosen: elementary school, middle school, high school, and inspirational. A Top Finalist is chosen in each category.
Educators are nominated by the students, parents, fellow educators and members of the Lafayette community. Nominees must be active academic educators in Lafayette Parish public, private or parochial schools in grades PreK-4 - 12.

"There are many challenges in the day to day classroom environment and this award just makes you feel like someone is appreciating all the efforts being made. The genuine feeling of support felt like a “warm blanket” from other comrades that would have never been able to be felt if it were not for the LEF and its awards ceremony.”
