LEF Teacher Awards is a special awards event complete with limousines and red carpet. The Academy Awards style event was designed to honor Lafayette Parish School teachers for their contribution to providing excellence in education.

There are four categories in which top finalist are chosen, elementary, middle, and high school, as well as, inspirational. 

Educators are nominated by the community: a parent, student, fellow teacher or anyone in the community who has witnessed the educator's impact. Nominees must be active academic educators in Lafayette Parish public, private or parochial schools in grades K-12.
